Belkin, Yusufali and Wikan’s

The way we live now:

I find this article very interesting! I think it’s so sad that women still to this day get paid less than men. It is also more upsetting that this is the reason why women are being hired, not because they are more qualified but because women are willing to work for this. Do these women know they are being paid less? My answer would be no. Maybe it’s a good thing that men aren’t being hired and they are having to be more domesticate. Recently women have been known to be getting into the workplace and out of the house but how many men are willing to stay home and play housedad?

Why do I wear Hijab?:

We as americans(or at least I do), see the Hijab as a sign of opression. I see it as a way that men are controlling women and telling them what they can and can’t do but Yusufali changed my opinion about this. It is awesome that she wears this to show her individuality and to prevent people from oppressing her in another way. It’s sad that she feel more oppressed with her body shown like the rest of America than with her body totally covered.  I think this video is helping portray what Yusufali is trying to avoid.

The Xanith:

I found this article a little hard to read. I found it disgusting that some of  these xaniths can pretend to be women during the day but at night go home to their wives and children. I also found it ironic that they had more freedom than women but at the same time the same freedoms as men. If they are going to act like women they should be treated the same as the women as far as the laws go.  I understand Xaniths cannot help the way they are but they should neither be persecuted or given preferential treatment for being this way.
